Archives of Bibb County
Named for William Wyatt Bibb, a Virginia native who practiced medicine in Elbert County, Georgia before being elected to serve as both a Representative and a Senator. This popular Georgia then accepted the terrotorial governorship in Alabama, which he followed with a term as governor of Georgia's neighbor to the west.Bibb County was created on December 9, 1822 from Jones, Twiggs, Monroe, and Houston Counties.
